Apple has been out of touch for a long time now, and their latest HomeView is the best confirmation.

Starting with the name itself, absolutely uninspiring and bland. Even their most loyal customers will have a hard time remembering it. And as for the functionality… what is this thing actually for?

• To display the time in the kitchen? There’s already a clock on the wall.
• To play music? It’s way too small and ridiculously overpriced to replace a cheap Amazon Echo.
• To video chat? On a display this small, you practically have to be 20 cm from the screen just to see who you’re talking to.
• To be a smart home controller? There has to be an established ecosystem of smart devices already installed in your house to even support it. Where are the Apple electric plugs and sensors?

There are devices already on the market with entire, turn-key ecosystems that you can buy right now, cheaper and better than this!

I can predict with high certainty that no one will remember the Apple HomeView in a year and Apple will quietly discontinue sales of this nonsense. The only question remaining is: who was responsible for wasting so much time, money, and effort on this stillborn product?

On an unrelated topic, I visited reddit to lurk for an image for this post for the first time in a long while. and omfg the changes are devastating. The search didn’t work at all. I’d type in the search field, hit enter, and nothing happened. I tried selecting search terms from the dropdown and nothing again.

Advertisements in between the posts, some fucking community polls and the other crap like games(wut???)
